For those planning higher-end weddings, extravagance is the name of the game in 2024. Big, bold cakes covered with gorgeous seasonal flowers, succulents, or intricate piping are in high demand, reminiscent of the opulent Lambeth cake style. We absolutely love baking these cakes and can’t tell you enough how much fun it is to decorate them, especially the large, 7 tier cakes! We may have to pull out the ladder to get to the top, but they’re worth it! These statement cakes serve as focal points of the reception, wowing guests with their grandeur and intricate detailing. A picture really is worth a thousand words, so you can see for yourself, but we must tell you, we excel in creating these luxurious cakes that quite literally elevate any wedding celebration to new heights of sophistication.
There's Big, Then There's Mini Wedding Cakes
If bigger isn't better for you, you're in luck this year! Another trend that's making the rounds faster than we expected is cutting cakes for the couple and individual cakes for each table. We usually only get requests for one or two of these a year. But we've already received several of these orders for mini cakes this year! What we're typically seeing is that couples want to have their cutting cake to match the same design as the cakes on each table. Sometimes the cutting cake, while still keeping with the mini cake trend, is smaller but occasionally tiered. Another option we're seeing is to have the mini cakes beautifully displayed on the cake table. In this setup they're usually different, but complementing designs.
